Dear Colleague,

On behalf of the Virginia Partnership for Nursing (VPN), we thank you for your interest in helping to educate school children and the general public about the profession of nursing as an optimum career choice. This Toolkit has been produced as a helpful visual guide to assist you as you speak to various audiences.

A little background.

The Virginia Partnership for Nursing was established as a statewide nursing workforce initiative in response to federal and state estimates of a nursing shortage. Part of our mission is to serve as an educational resource to help build a nursing workforce that is adequately staffed and optimally prepared to respond to consumer health care needs now and in the future.

One strategy to help achieve our mission is our recently developed public service recruitment campaign titled: 'Nurses Change Lives.' The campaign seeks to inspire students in kindergarten through grade 12 to consider a career in nursing. The PowerPoint shows can be used by nurses for public presentations.

We ask that you give credit to the Virginia Partnership for Nursing when you use these materials.

The CD's content.
This CD actually contains three PowerPoint shows: one for use when speaking to middle school children, one for use in high schools, and one for the general public. Each show is colorful and compelling. The content describes the rewards of choosing nursing as a career; provides interesting facts about the nursing profession; serves as a guide for those who wish to pursue an applicable education or degree; and generally presents nursing in a dynamic new light.
