DENISE DALY KONRAD, MS
Nurse Leadership Institute Director

On behalf of the Nurse Leadership Institute, the Richmond Memorial Health Foundation is pleased to announce the selection of Denise Daly Konrad as the new Director of the Nurse Leadership Institute (NLI), effective September 1, 2009. Ms. Konrad will provide leadership to NLI and guide its future development building on the solid foundation created during the Institute’s first two years under the leadership of Dr. JoAnne Kirk Henry in partnership with Virginia’s nursing professionals.

Ms. Konrad is an experienced leader who has held leadership positions in several health related organizations. As the Executive Director of Richmond Enhancing Access to Community Healthcare (REACH) Denise gained first-hand experience leading coalitions and working with a broad array of organizations with varying missions yet a common goal. In her role with REACH, she led the non-profit corporation that improved healthcare services for low-income, uninsured residents of greater Richmond. She was responsible for corporate operations, including hiring and supervising staff and supporting a Board of Directors. Denise developed, fundraised and managed an annual budget, ranging from $250,000 - $1 million. She is an experienced facilitator who spearheaded a 25-member Steering Committee of regional healthcare and other community leaders resulting in a strategic plan that currently provides a blueprint to developing, delivering and financing new services for Greater Richmond’s uninsured. Denise has participated in multiple state and local health committees and advisory boards committed to improving health and health-related services for Virginians.

In making the announcement of the appointment of Ms. Konrad as Institute Director, the Foundation noted that the search committee considered Denise’s experiences and interpersonal skills as essential to the future development of the Nurse Leadership Institute.

Denise will serve as an employee of the Richmond Memorial Health Foundation reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer. She will be committed to the Nurse Leadership Institute and will assist the Foundation in other nursing and other health care professional activities embraced by the Foundation and currently underway.
